Os Píos Altarpiece
This is an ‘open type of breastwork, crowned by a cross, which shows a small temple, arched at the top and not very deep. The alms box can be seen at the front’, says Fernández de la Cigoña. At its edge stands a transept, forming a single unit. ‘The shrine is empty. It may have had a polychrome wooden one at one time. The parapet is certainly primitive in style. Underneath the shrine there are some letters which, as far as we can read, read: THIS WORK MADE BY DOMINGO FERNANDEZ DE OS PIOS.
