Map of the Bishopric of Tui

Rosendo Amoedo, 1766
Rosendo Amoedo (1736-1805) was a cartographer and draughtsman born in Ribadavia. He worked as a collaborator of Tomás López, the royal cartographer and geographer. Rosendo was also a draughtsman, painter and gilder of altarpieces. He was responsible, for example, for the paintings of the altarpiece in the chapel of San Bieito de Cuñas, in the town hall of Cenlle, executed in 1782. We owe Amoedo several maps of bishoprics drawn for the ‘España Sagrada’ by Father Enrique Flórez (1767). Tomás López exalted his ‘Map of the Diocese of Tuy’, which he used to draw his Map of the Kingdom of Galicia (1784).
